It depends: The critical aspect is to determine why she has worsening kidney function and see if that can be treated. If the worsening kidney function is due to poor cardiac function or diminished blood flow to the kidneys, eecp may be helpful. Check renal function: You mother needs to go to a nephrologist to see at what level her kidneys work. Her weakness could be a sign of anemia of chronic kidney disease which can be treated with injections to raise her hemoglobin, which will give her more energy. She should also collect her urine for 24 hours to see if she has any significant amount of protein in it. Low levels of protein can cause edema.
