Nocturnal events: Would be suspicious of chronic sinusitis and/ or GERD, as a mechanism. Need to see your doctor, get this diagnosed and treated. This can be reversed, but do not wait. (suppose under current circumstances, COVID-19 should be R/o'd, but less likely explanation)

Agree plus: Agree with prior suggestions. Till you see your doc, try sleeping with head elevated, either on 2 pillows, wedge, or with head of bed elevated. Consider short acting antihistamine at bedtime to dry excess secretions.
