A member asked:

I have compound heterozygous hereditary hemochromatosis.i have intermittent debilitating abdominal pain.recently it was brought to my attention my deceased mother may have had acute intermittent porphyria is it possible i have that too????

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possibilities: The abdominal pain could be a clue toward a co-morbidity. Since a 24 hr urine collection could readily screen for porphyria, it is no monumental process to initiate. How these two might inter-relate is unclear. Where you live, you can easily find a geneticist to assist in understanding. Hope all gets clarified and problems get resolved.
