A member asked:

I want to get pregnant in six months. i have the mirena iud, which takes 4-6 months to conceive when removed, so am i better off to just leave my iud in or switch to either the vaginal ring or the patch, to conceive faster following removal? thanks?

Confusing question: If you leave the IUD in, you cannot conceive while it is in place. Once removed , it takes time for the womb to get ready, (months) The cited average wait for a desired pregnancy is 6 mo when the womb is ready (range wks to 1 yr). If you want to get pregnant take the IUD out & start the waiting period. Do not expect to get pregnant on your schedule. It happens or not on its own schedule.
