Common: Swelling in the middle ear can be worsened by inflammation in the eustacian tube which connects to the back of the nasopharynx and typically drains away any middle ear fluid. Try doing saline nasal washes while tapping on the opposite nostril to slightly increase the pressure in the eustacian canal. This will allow the fluid to flush the canal and sooth the inflammation. Use a decongestant.
