PCV can help prevent: As pneumococcus is a major cause of middle ear and sinus disease, a polyvalent pneumococcal immunization can be of benefit.

Likely, but ??: The studies are ongoing for this very question, but the answer is not known yet. Pneumococcus bacteria is often the culprit in causing sinus, ear infections even in adults, but lots of other players as well like staph, strep, viruses... For those people with immune system problems that are prone to pneumococal infections (sickle cell, no working spleen, etc), pneumococcal vaccine is a must!
