Pretty common: Sometimes the tear ducts are clogged a little & minor eye weeping appears. It usually resolves in time. The cord stump is somewhat like a simple sore that can reopen and bleed a little until it finally heals. We often see this soon after the main stump separates. Just keep it clean and dry as you would any scratch and it should heal fine.

Signs: Signs of infection may include discharge, swelling and redness of both areas. Clear ocular liquid is common and a gentle massage near the lower corner of the eye may be helpful. Watch for signs of infection outlined and please follow up for a two week weight check with your pediatrician.
