Covid-19 or Flu: it is possible that your son has Covid or Influenza. At 2 months old you should not give him oral medications except for fever reducers (which he does not need- no fever). Use warm saline nasal drops with aspiration just prior to feeding, and use humidification to loosen the mucus and phlegm.
