My baby is 2 weeks old. his belly button started to bleed. there was nothing earlier today only saw it now. the bleeding is not heavy. should i be worried? i have cleaned it with surgical spirits every time i change his nappies.

How much blood: It depends how much it is bleeding. If there is a steady oozing, you need to take him to the pediatrician to have the area sutured. If it is just occasional spotting, just keep cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol and it will eventually stop.

Depends on cord...: If his cord had not come off yet, it is not at all unusual for there to he some mild bleeding as the cord detaches and comes off. Nothing to worry about there. If cord came off days or a week ago already, then bleeding now is a bit unusual. He may have a tiny piece that didn't detach stuck in belly button, or may have developed an umbilical granuloma. These need to he identified and treated.
