I have inherited hypertension that i keep under control with medication, but i dont like having taking pills, i wonder if kidney denervation can be effective?

Not used in us: The renal denervation device market has several systems approved for use in Europe, but none so far has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Renal denervation is a catheter-based ablation procedure used to treat patients with high blood pressure resistant to drugs. Since medication is effective at this stage, can't really endorse.

Controversial. : Enthusiasm has waxed and waned. Recent studies have suggested that technique of denervation may be a significant factor. Until the issue is settled, I would recommend that you take the medication if there are no side effects. Lack of good blood pressure control is harmful in the long run. Continue to follow up with your physician for ongoing guidance.

Evidence not there: I reviewed a few articles. At the present time; there is not enough evidence that you would benefit from kidney denervation. However at the present time we have a multitude of medications in our armamentarium to treat hypertension. You can try different classes and find the proper dose of medication that is effective and has a low side effect profile. Discuss with your doctor.
