A member asked:

How smoking affect insulin reaction in body or what's the effect on smoking on insulin in blood?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Insuline resistance: In healthy men, chronic smoking was associated with high plasma Insulin concentrations, independent of other factors known to influence Insulin sensitivity . In addition, the long-term use of nicotine gum was associated with hyperinsulinemia and Insulin resistance. Smoking (also in habitual smokers) acutely impairs Insulin action and leads to Insulin resistance.
