Team: Back problems need a team approach. Need to get pain and inflammation under control first, then progress to physical therapy and stretching to allow recovery and resumption of normal activities, then maintenance to prevent recurrence. Initially may need meds to control pain, or consider chiropractic or great treatment is acupuncture by skilled practitioner. Then physicaltherapy to recover

Resume therapy: Best to use a combination of massage, physical therapy, acupuncture, and moist heat to stabilize. A home exercise program appears to be useful over the long run, and a PT can provide directions for the McKenzie approach. Typically best to avoid back braces. Review postural awareness with your treatment team.
