For how long?: Acute pain that is persistent can be caused by any number of causes such as a muscle sprain or inflammation of tendons(Tendinitis). If breathing makes the pain worse, then it points to your lung(Pleurisy?) or a broken rib from injury. If the pain does not settle down with Tylenol(take 2 tablets 6 hours apart for 24 hours), then you need to get a medical examination and a Chest X-R ay fm your docto

My thoughts: ALTHOUGH SHOULDER PAIN COULD BE REFERRED, AND COULD BE ASSOCIATED WITH PINCHING OF NERVES IN ARM OR NECK, COULD ALSO BE SECONDARY TO A NEURALGIA WHICH AFFECTS THE MIDDLE SHOULDER BLADE, "NOTALGIA PARESTHETICA". PERHAPS A NEUROLOGIST COULD EVALUATE THESE AREAS.
