A member asked:

Is it safe to let a uti go away on its own without antibiotics? i am almost positive i have had a uti for the past several days but really don't want to have to be on antibiotics if possible?

UTI treatment: It would be in your best interest to be treated as most, if not all, UTI's do not go away on their own. With current antibiotics you might be able to be treated with as little as 3-5 days of medication, and this is typically well tolerated. Unless there is a specifici reason for not taking antibiotics, such as an allergy, a short course should be sufficient in a young woman
