My daughter is 5 years old, diagnosed yesterday with middle ear infection and tonsillitis. today there is thick, white liquid and blood coming out of her ear. what should i do? can't get hold of the dr that diagnosed her?

Needs attention: Would take her to the hospital emergency department, as this needs to be addressed ASAP. Hope this can be handled fully today.

Ruptured ear drum: Your child most likely ruptured her ear drum. The pressure from the pus inbher middle ear built up until the ear drum actually tore or "popped" due to the pressure. The fluid you see is the infection pouring out. For many kids, the rupture makes the pain better, as it relieves pressure. You usually need ear drops in addition to the CV oral antibiotics, but don't need ER. Call doc in am for med.
