A member asked:

Good evening doctors. i had a hearing test, which showed mild hearing loss in both ears. when i asked the ent if i needed hearing aids, the ent said no. with total respect to the ent, why would hearing aids for mild hearing loss in both ears not help?

Hearing loss: If the hearing loss is not effecting your life, i.e you have no difficulty hearing a conversation, you hear the TV and hear people on the phone, then you don't need hearing aids. A mild hearing loss by itself doesn't mean you need to correct it.

A decision : You may have mild loss at this point but speech discrimination may be tough causing stress to you. The high end devices are quite pricey but you might do well with an online amplifier. Maybe get second opinion
