Neuralgia: Sharp,shooting scalp pains are caused by inflammation/irritability of a superficial nerve and don't emanate from within the brain. They are more of a nuisance rather than anything serious. They usually resolve on their own. If you still have concerns see your physician for evaluation and advice.
