Large safety range: Overdosage of medications is one of the most common reasons for hospital ER visits in children. In this case, you should not worry. Ibuprofen doses in children have a large safety range. You may note that your child may be very sleepy today or less active, but otherwise they should be fine. It is vital to correctly administer medication in children, as many common meds are not safe for children.

Ibuprofen dose: A single double dose as described should pose no problem to a child. You may wish to hold off the next dose. Please check for the correct dose with your doctor or healthcare provider. IT should be based on your child's weight.

Likely fine: Based on the information you provided, it looks like the dose you gave is 200 mg. The correct dose depends on weight, and while what you gave is likely on the higher side, if your toddler’s above 4 kg (8.8 lbs), you’re in okay shape. A good idea would be to look at the maximum daily dose on the bottle and follow that for subsequent doses today.
