Urine Protein Leak: He is spilling protein (p) in his urine and that needs to be quantified with a 24 hour urine for creatinine clearance and protein. Blood work will need to be taken to see if he has p due to diabetes, or some glomerular disease of the kidney. If the blood work does not show a cause, and he has more than 500 mg of p/day, he will need a kidney biopsy for a diagnosis, prognosis and a treatment plan.
