Underlying cause: In my experience, uveitis is a sign of an underlying disease or condition, and when diagnosis is uncovered, specific therapy can be initiated. Would urge quest for second opinion at the Ophthalmology Dept. of a nearby medical school.

Eye inflammation: It is important to treat uveitis to prevent damage to the eye. It is also important to make a search for possible causes of uveitis, although an actual cause is seldom found. Left untreated, uveitis can result in blindness. This is a case in which a specialist's specialist is the best one for the job, that is a uveitis specialist, rather than a general ophthalmologist
