All depends: It depends on what's causing your constipation. Adding fiber (Prunes, Metamucil, Etc) may help relieve your symptoms. Drinking lots of water would be helpful. But the best option is to see your General Physician to find out what's causing the constipation and treating the cause, not just the symptoms.

Agree with Dr. M: You may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. For the long term you may try to increase your intake of fiber foods.
