I'm on zolpidem 10mg for a week and it does not make sleep. can i increase the dose to 15mg and if not, why am i not allowed to take more than 10mg a night?

Zolpidem dose: Recommended dose of Zolpidem for females is 5 mg. You can require higher dose and your doctor can increase the dose gradually after making sure that you do not have any side effect. Other medications are available for insomnia if Zolpidem does not work. I hope it helps.
