A member asked:

Hello ,im a 45 yo male,i was diagnose with atropic gastritis in 2019 after a endoscopy and was told to get one done there after every 3 years, but in the past 6 months or so my gastrin levels have been goin up form 400 to 1340 a few days ago,i have be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

High gastrin: Progression of elevated gastrin levels indicate more loss of stomach acid production and, I assume, worsening atrophic gastritis which leads to Vitamin B12 deficiency and subsequent pernicious anemia. Iron deficiency may also occur. I assume you have been put on Vitamin B12 injection therapy or sublingual B12 tablets to prevent pernicious anemia and neurological disorders.
