Saline nasal wash: There are not enough studies showing that either phenylephrine or psuedoephedrine (found in most nasal decongestants) is safe for breastfeeding in .newborns. Your best bet is to do hypertonic saline nasal washes. they help to clear out the mucus and dry the nasal passages. (use two packets per bottle of warm purified water). Use Acetaminophen for headache.

Yes, BUT.....: While most of the OTC cold remedies for your sinus headache would be safe to take while breastfeeding, there is a huge side effect! Just like they dry up your nose, they dry up your breasts and your milk supply may drastically reduce or worse, you could lose your supply altogether. You can take Tylenol for headache. For congestion, use saline rinses to decongest your nose and drink lot of fluid
