Depends.: There are many causes including congenital, infections (especially viral), drug side effect or allergy, autoimmune disease, and other benign or malignant blood disorders. Only some of these need any treatment. Bone marrow biopsies can help in diagnosis. G-csf (neupogen) can raise neutrophil count in some cases, and is useful if there have been infection problems, assuming no underlying cause.
