Edema: Water pills are commonly prescribed for swelling and water overload. Discuss your concerns about your father's test findings (ideally with your father present at a doctor's visit). Do not make any changes in medication. This can cause other metabolic changes which your doctor will know to adjust for. Your doctor may recommend reducing salt in the diet.

? lymphedema: Ask your father's doctor if they feel bbn there is any lymphedema present. If there is, try leg elevation and try lymphedema pump 2-3 hours a couple of times a day to reduce excess fluid in bgg the tissues.

3 major causes: Edema is a condition but your father needs a diagnosis to receive optimal treatment. The 3 major causes of edema when combined with volume overload in the lungs are: congestive heart failure, nephrotic syndrome (kidney disease), and cirrhosis of the liver. There are rare conditions as well. He needs a full workup. Treating the cause is preferable to masking symptoms with diuretics ,if possible.
