What causes pain in my swollen edema filled legs? i do however, keep my legs elevated above my heart.

The pressure in the: tissues are under tremendous pressure when there is swelling in a limited space. It is expanding beyond the normal amount. So the 'extra fluid' that is now out into the tissues needs a place to drain to get to the heart and out the kidneys. You didn't list your other conditions, but if you've had it now for a few days or weeks, you need to be seen by a doctor ASAP. This is not a normal finding.
