HSV1 infection: You are infected with HSV1 -- as are about half of all humans. Most HSV1 infections are oral, most often acquired in childhood. Be on the alert for oral herpes outbreaks (cold sores). Some infections are genital, but genital herpes caused by HSV1 usually recurs infrequently and is rarely transmitted sexually to partners.
