If a baby has a minor heart shaped tongue from being tongue tied at birth, but it was clipped, will the tongue alway look heart shaped or fade?

Probably fade: Clipping the frenum releases the "tie" holding the tongue back. Especially if done at a young age chances are that it will grow into a normal non-heart shaped tongue.

Resolves: Generally clipping this tongue tie, as long as the tethering part is completely addressed, will allow the tongue to take on the normal appearance and lose the heart shape. Honestly, however, it isn't the appearance of the tongue it's the function that impacts decision to clip. Poor feeding/latch/weight gain, feeds that take too long, maternal nipple pain etc are all great reasons to address it.

Fade: As long as the tissue attachment does not re-attach, your child's tongue should assume a normal shape on its own.
