A member asked:

I took one 10mg dose of lexapro and decided that i didn't want to take it while breastfeeding. how long will lexapro stay in my system so that none is in breast milk?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Several days: The half life of Lexapro is about 27 hours, so it takes a while to get out of your blood, let alone out of breast milk. That being said, the small amount that gets into breast milk is insignificant versus the benefits of breastfeeding. I encourage you to keep nursing and not worry about trace amounts that go through to your milk.
