A member asked:

I gave birth 3 weeks ago and im breastfeeding, im hiv positive and my child is negative im treatment my viral load is undetectable can i mix feed my child with formula only at night and also first feed in the morning?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes, you can: You don't say why you want c'x to mix with formula, but the answer to your question is ,yes, you can mix. That being said, optimal feeding is breast only. Adding in formula may decrease your milk supply. Formula is also a bit harder to digest, and some babies get fussy adding in the non-human milk. BTW, congratulations for getting your viral load to undetectable. Keep up on your anti-viral meds!
