My dad took his regular dose of metoprolol this morning at 8 am. 50 mg. tonight he grabbed the wrong medication container and took another 50 mg. it was around 8 pm. what do i need to look for?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Second dose: The main effects would be a slow heart rate(under 55), low blood pressure(under 105), possible weakness, lightheadedness. If he's taking the longacting metoprolol succinate you would observe for side effects for up to 24 hours. Don't administer tomorrow's dose until you know his pulse is over 60 and BP is at least 120/70 or call his MD for instructions If symptomatic bring him to the emergency roo
