A member asked:

Can earbuds impact wax in ears & cause dizziness?

Not usually: Though earbuds can shift the more superficial wax in your ear, it is unlikely that these will impact your ear completely, unless you already have a significant amount of wax. It is also unlikely that the wax impaction of your ear will cause dizziness, though sometimes patients will describe the fullness that they get from the impaction as dizziness.

Yes and no: Ear buds and especially ear plugs have the ability to press wax deeper into the ear canal. If this happens the wax may not easily fall out on its own. Despite this, dizziness is uncommon. Although some people will consider ear pressure or plugging which is common with wax impaction to feel like dizziness, true dizziness is usually characterized by imbalance, spinning, or disorientation.
