A 32-year-old female asked:

My daughter (2 years and 8 months) has had a persistent cough for 9 days now. have given cough syrup and finished 5 days of cortisone syrup but still has a cough. mucus in her nose too persisted. not sure what else to do?

Ignore it: Studies in the US found that cough/cold medications have little value in kids under 6. A teaspoon of honey with lemon juice has more benefit in many. If her doc sees no reason to believe it is a bacterial infection you need to just let it pass.
