A member asked:

Can washing newborns head with water that is too hot (causing loud crying) cause brain damage?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: The brain is quite well insulated against any such external force. You could get a scalp burn if it were really hot, but that would be the extent of the risk. Many newborns just cry because they don't understand what washing is all about. You spend 9 months floating in a pond & then get flushed out into a strange world. The new experience would trouble you.
