A member asked:

Is severe constipation in a child of 1 year and 11 months considered an emergency?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not particularly: Most would define an emergency as an immediate threat to life/limb or significant body function. Examples like gun shot wounds/heart attacks/breathing difficulty/uncontrollable bleeding come to mind. It certainly deserves contact with the kids doc on an urgent basis. S/he can decide what if anything must be done immediately & who & when the kid should be seen.
