Is lamotrigine an overall safe medication? if the rash is developed, is it dangerous? i take apri birth control, will lamotrigine interact with its effectiveness? worried about side effects. starting this medication for possible undiagnosed seizures?

The rash would occur within the first few weeks, and if itchy, lamotrigine should be stopped, as Stevens-Johnson Syndrome is life-threatening. Otherwise is a safe, well-tolerated drug, without oral contraceptive interactions, and likely without significant issues regarding teratogenic risks if pregnancy ensued. Discuss with your doctor.
