A member asked:

Just curious if i had pitocin with my first labor and delivery. if i need it again what are the chances of hyperstimulation this second time if it never happened the first time?

Some ideas: Its been a while since I stood by during labor but the routine with Pitocin was always close monitoring by a standby nurse. If a patient was on pit, the pregnancy was always on a fetal monitor that continuously notes the frequency & intensity of contractions. The monitoring allows the nurse to decrease the pit drip or turn it off completely if any hyperstimulation is evident on the monitor.
