A member asked:

Husband swallow a very small piece of copper size maybe a 1cm to 2cm. should he be taken to the hospital for xray? will it pass itself with no problems?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Likely okay: We have a lot of experience with toddlers doing this with everything imaginable. It sometimes help to feed him stewed mushy okra as it forms a soft congeal around the object to help it pass. An adult would know he ate it so an x-ray would not be needed to confirm it. One taken on the 4th or later days could confirm it passed.
