A member asked:

In case of loss of consciousness for 2 or 3 minutes and have happened thrice over last 45 years , as i have high bp does it call for medication to prevent possible stroke ? thanks?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fainting: Fainting or loss of consciousness may be caused by postural dropping of blood pressure, seizure disorder, cardiac arrhythmias, vasovagal reactions or, in adults, coronary artery disease. I think you should be evaluated by a neurologist and a cardiologist as well as be checked to see if your BP is too low or if it drops when you.stand. Ask your MD about taking low dose aspirin for stroke prevention.
