Higher risk: It's a bit complicated, and a good question. In general, those who are at higher risk of vascular disease, or those who have had vascular events, should take aspirin as prophylaxis. Because all drugs have side effects and risks, organizations like the American Heart Association and the FDA do NOT recommend individuals who are not at high risk nor have had a vascular event to do so.
