A member asked:

Why did my heart rate go from 85 to 100-105after eating a piece of fried chicken?(not good for me i know)is 105 ventricular tachycardia? just wondering if it is normal for some foods to do that, or if it is actually something serious?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tachycardia: Eating increases the metabolic rate and circulation of blood and an increase in heart rate during and after eating isn't unusual but the rate isn't excessively rapid and doesn't exceed 100. You may have reacted to some ingredients. There is no way of diagnosing ventricular tachycardia without an EKG or wearing a heart monitor. Generally the rate of ventricular tachycardia is between 120 and 300.
