Basics: Once you are infected with a strain of HPV you likely carry it for life & develop antibodies to it that help suppress it . You generally don't spread if after it clears by 2 yrs, but you do not get re-infected. The HPV vaccine does not cure/alter existing infections. It helps you develop antibodies that protect against the strains you do not have.
