I was diagnosed with melanoma in situ (0.4 x 0.4 x 0.1cm) on my right shin and am having surgery in two weeks. i will be getting skin checks every three months. what are the chances this could spread to my lymph nodes later on?

Very low risk: In Stage 0 melanoma, the malignant tumor is still confined to the upper layer of the skin—the epidermis—which means the cancer cells are only in the outer layer of the skin and have not grown into the second layer of skin, called the dermis. Stage 0 melanoma is not considered invasive melanoma, therefore there is very very low risk of it spreading to lymph nodes.
