Pediatrician: The average pediatrician sees this problem every week. Many are very comfortable coordinating the evaluation & treatment. Some may choose to avoid the process & refer the cases to other docs in a variety of specialties like psychiatry or neurology.

Start with Peds: Start with your Pediatrician. They can do an initial screening and coordinate the testing and prescribing if meds are eventually needed. They have resources for behavioral psychologists who will evaluate your son, and the questionairres for teachers that will need to be completed and they can look for other underlying causes including vision problems, endocrine problems etc.
