A member asked:

Ive cut my finger yesterday with a sharp knife while preparing food... its on the tip of my thumb. doesnt hurt too much today, just want to know if the skin will reattach?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Thumb laceration: If the injury is not involving the nail or the skin underneath the nail these type of injuries usually heal with frequent washing with soap and water, coverage with a good dressing and time. If the area becomes red, has drainage from the wound or swells, it is important to have it examined more closely by your doctor. A cut can be an entry point for infection and thus in need of medical treatment.
