Folliculitis: Mild axillary folliculitis is usually treated with an antibiotic cream, gel or lotion. First, gently wash the axillary area twice a day with an antibiotic soap. Apply warm, moist compresses a few times a day. Oral antibiotics are prescribed for severe axillary folliculitis. Don't shave the area or apply deodorant. See your physician as needed.
