My doctor (not a dermatologist) prescribed minocycline for folliculitis on my butt and thighs that has lasted for years. i read about it and it seems to usually be used to treat acne, not folliculitis, and it has harsh side effects. 2nd opinion?

Given Staphylococcus aureus the most common cause for folliculitis, clindamycin or erythromycin would be preferable to minocycline. By the way, harsh side effect from minocycline is not common.
