A member asked:

Was seen by two different doctors, they believe it is gastritis, i am 21 years old. recently had a loss of appetite, stool seems light colored (not the typical brown). a blood test was ran and they said my liver was doing fine, what can it be?

Basics: Stool color is derived from the ultra green bile added to gut debris in transit.Poop can vary from greens through yellows to brown depending on the time needed to move through the gut. You don't provide enough detail to either confirm or deny the label you were given by docs who had more data & an exam.

Gastroenterologist: I recommend consulting a gastroenterologist for evaluation and appropriate testing. Light colored or tan colored stools can be seen in irritable bowel syndrome, liver, pancreatic and gall bladder disorders as well as intestinal malabsorption. Describe details of bowel habits or any food intolerances.
