A member asked:

I have heart arrhythmias - have been to a cardiologist. he wanted to put a stent in my heart. my gp says no. he doesn't see why i need one and that a stent is for severe cases.

Advice: I would tend to place credence in the specialist's recommendation based on is/her years of specialty training above and beyond the generalists, as well as his/her practice being devoted entirely to this specialty. If you are still unsure, seek a third opinion.
